About the role

Healey House is a 25-bedroom residential care home run by HRVAB, a local charity supporting people with sight loss since 1921. As a Health Care Assistant, you will be at the heart of daily life in the home, getting to know each resident and helping them live the way they choose.

What you will do

  • Help residents with washing, bathing, dressing and continence care, with dignity and at a pace that suits them

  • Support residents at mealtimes and make sure they have plenty to eat and drink

  • Help residents with sight loss move around the home safely, including sighted guiding

  • Spend time with residents, chat with them and join in with activities

  • Notice and report any changes in a resident’s health, mood or wellbeing

  • Keep care records clear, accurate and up to date

  • Follow our infection control, fire safety and safeguarding procedures

  • Work as part of a friendly, supportive team

About you

  • Experience in care is welcome but not essential, as we give full training

  • Kind, patient and respectful, with a genuine wish to help others

  • Reliable and happy to work as part of a team

  • A good communicator, with good spoken and written English

  • Willing to work towards care qualifications
